Each region in Turkey is characterized by certain dishes and local specialties, their kitchen is varied, the same dishes can be found in different versions and with different ingredients to regions which are prepared.
Appetizers are the foundation of Turkish cuisine, often as food that can replace a meal. A typical example is “imam bayildi” – vegetable dish based on aubergines , which is common in Turkish cuisine. In Turkey, there are even restaurants that specialize in offering only appetizers.
Turkey is a sea side country and is world famous for its fish and seafood dishes that have a special place in Turkish cuisine and often attend mass, mostly anchovies.
Undoubtedly Turkish cuisine is best known for its desserts. Baklava prepared in many different ways, Revane and Turkish Kadaif are just some of syrupy delights of Turkish cuisine. Other typical desserts are Ashure / pudding grains, fruits and nuts / Sutlac and of course the famous multicolored Turkish delight!
